Skills, expertise, and experience:

Tsholofelo joins MTN from Telkom where she held the positions of Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Group Risk and Compliance officer, prior to her appointment as the Group Chief Financial officer in Before joining Telkom, Tsholofelo spent nine years at Eskom Holdings, where she held various roles including being the Finance Director of the company.

 

In addition to her telecommunications industry experience, Tsholofelo has also worked in the banking and financial services sector before joining Eskom. She brings with her extensive financial strategy, financial management and accounting experience, with a strong background in enterprise risk management and financial controls.

  • Tsholofelo Molefe joined MTN Group in April as the group CFO. Prior to joining MTN, she was the group CFO of Telkom SA. She joined Telkom in as deputy CFO, and was promoted in after briefly serving as the company’s chief risk and compliance officer.

    Before that, Tsholofelo climbed the ranks at Eskom, starting as a general manager of finance and business support in the power utility’s Transmission division in , then joining the group executive committee as the group executive for the Customer Services division, and finally being promoted to FD in

    She had a short career journey with FNB’s Personal Banking Segment as the CFO in the Consumer Segment Unit. Prior to this, she was an audit manager at Absa Group and an assistant audit manager at Liberty Group, respectively.

    Tsholofelo served her audit and accounting articles at PwC.

    Her other achievements include being recognised as the Executive of the Year among the top Executive Managers of Eskom, and being a finalist on the Standard Bank Top Women Awards in the category of Top Female Public Sector Leader Award. She also won the High-Performance Team Award and the Finance Transformation Award at the CFO Awards for her work as the CFO of Telkom.

    For her work as MTN Group's CFO, Tsholofelo was nominated for the CFO Awards.

    Tsholofelo is the Group Chief Financial Officer of MTN Group since April Prior to joining MTN Group, she was the Group CFO of Telkom SA SOC Limited where she joined as Deputy Chief Financial Officer in July

     

    Previously, she was employed as a Finance Director of Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. Tsholofelo’s work experience also includes Chief Financial Officer in the Personal Segment Unit at First National Bank Consumer Division as well as Audit Manager at ABSA Group. She served her audit and accounting articles at Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers).

     

    Since joining MTN, Tsholofelo has successfully ensured the company is disciplined in capital allocation including balance sheet management, resulting in reducing the holding company leverage from x to less than x by financial year-end. She also led the company through an expense efficiency program which saw the company saving R billion in expenses in She is an integral part of the Company’s Ambition strategy execution which includes the structural separation of the platform businesses, portfolio optimization and the asset realization program. She brings with her extensive financial strategy, financial management and accounting experience, with a strong background in enterprise risk management and financial controls.
