    Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon (born 6 December 1993), who is better known by his stage name Reekado Banks, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was signed to Mavin Records between 2014 and 2018, and went by the stage name Spicy before his record deal with the label. Banks won Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, and received the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015. His debut studio album Spotlight, which was released on 1 September 2016, debuted at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart.

    Reekado Banks is the last-born child of a family that adores music. His mother is a caterer and pastor, while his father is a clergyman from Ondo State. He grew up in a disciplinarian setting due to both of his parents being pastors. He completed secondary school at the age of 14 and started recording music in 2008. All of his previous songs were produced by his older brother Temi Solomon, who taught him the fundamentals of writing, singing, and producing. He derived the stage name Reekado Banks by combining the meaning of the two names; the former part of his stage name translates to "strong ruler", while the latter part means "wealth". In 2014, Banks graduated from the University of Lagos with a degree in history and strategic study. He has cited Don Jazzy, 2face Idibia, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Olamide and M.I as his key musical inspirations.

    Reekado Banks, whose real name is Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon was born in 1993 in Lagos, Nigeria. The gifted vocalist and songwriter grew up listening to different genres of music and fell in love with the sweet melodies of Rhythm & Blues.

    At 15, Reekado started writing songs as a simple hobby. His older brother, Temi, an aspiring A&R/Artist Manager discovered his book of lyrics and began to guide young Reekado on how to make and record music. Soon after, he decided to do music professionally and got the support of family and friends, which further propelled him to go ahead with music.

    In 2013, Temi submitted some of the songs Reekado Banks had recorded to one of Africa’s most celebrated record labels, Mavin Records in an online talent search. His distinct voice and knack for creating unique and catchy melodies and lyrics; caught the attention of music guru and label boss, Don Jazzy. Out of over 5,000 entries, Reekado Banks was selected and signed to the prestigious Mavin Records.

    His first singles under the Mavin Records imprint, “Turn It Up ft Tiwa Savage” and “Chop Am” received and are still enjoying rave reviews with fans and the media all around Africa. His verses and hooks on Mavin hits, Dorobucci, Adaobi, and Looku Looku are also very worthy of note.

    On February 14th, 2015, his 3rd single, “Katapot” was released online and immediately created a new trend for lovers all over. The song is receiving impressive reviews as it makes it’s way to the top of charts all over Africa, reaching the 5th position on the iTunes Top Songs Chart in its first week.

    He is a graduate of the University of Lagos, Nigeria where he studied History and Strategic Studies, Reekado Banks is gradually becoming a social trendsetter among his peers with his frequent gimmicks on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

During his teen years, he learned a lot of musical stuff from his brother Temi. He started off as a rapper but later switched to singing. During the early stages of his career, he went by the name Spicy but later changed it to Reekado Banks. Reekado is a Spanish name meaning ruler of kings while Banks means being rich and content musically.

    His brother Temi paved the way for him musically by submitting some of his music to Mavin records through an online music search. He managed to defeat over 5,000 contestants and was eventually signed into the label. He was unveiled together with Di'ja and Korede Bello. 

    Under Mavin, he released his first song dubbed Turn It Up featuring Tiwa Savage, but it was until he featured on Dorobucci alongside other Mavin artists like Korede Bello, Dr Sid, Tiwa Savage, Di'ja and D'Prince that he got his major breakthrough. Under the label, he made a name as a top Nigerian singer thanks to his amazing hits.
