Born in the Netherlands he began his studies at the Utrecht Conservatory with Henny Yana Diemer and then he continued his opera studies at the University of Music in Vienna with Vahan Mirakian and Edith Mathis. He was also a member of the Dutch National Opera Studio. After winning a first prize at the Nico Dostal Singing Competition, he made his debut as Papageno during the Wiener Mozart Woche in the baroque theater Schönbrunn and as Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at the Rheinsberg Festival.

Subsequently he sang roles like Figaro and Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro-Mozart), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni-Mozart), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte-Mozart), Pimpinone (Pimpinone-Telemann), Uberto (La serva padrone-Pergolesi), Maitre Jean (La Colombe-Gounod), Escamillo (Carmen-Bizet), Riccardo (I Puritani-Bellini), Basilowitsch (Der Graf von Luxemburg-Lehár), Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream-Britten), Patrocles (King Priam-Tippett) and Sacha (Moskva Cheryomushki-Shostakovich). Which he interpreted at the Wiener Kammeroper, Stadttheater Baden, Opera Zuid (NL), Nederlandse Reisopera, Dutch National Opera and various international festivals.

He also established himself as a concert singer at several of the most important concert halls in Europe and Japan. He is especially a regular guest in the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam (among others in the prestigious Matinee Series) in works like Handel’s Messiah, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater and Requiem, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem and Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen.  

With the philharmonie zuidnederland under Michael Tabachnik he sang Joseph in Berlioz’ L’enfance du Christ and with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under Edo de Waart he was heard as L’ami in Debussy’s La chute de la maison Usher. With that same orchestra this time under the direction of Alexander Liebreich he performed the Don Quichotte

Santiago Cimadevilla - bandoneonist, composer, arranger


Santiago Cimadevilla was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He played guitar from a young age and studied classical piano at the Conservatorio Municipal Manuel de Falla.

In the Netherlands he studied bandoneon at the Rotterdam Conservatory with Victor Villena and Leo Vervelde. After his graduation concert he was awarded with a prize from the Foundation Friends of the Rotterdam Conservatory for outstanding study results and artistic quality. He was also awarded with the prestigious Huygens Scholarship Programme in order to pursue a Master’s degree studying composition and arrangements with Gustavo Beytelmann.

During his studies at the Rotterdam Conservatory he was a regular member of Orquesta Tipica OTRA, for which he also wrote several original compositions and arrangements. With this orchestra he performed in most of the major concert halls in the Netherlands including the Concertgebouw and the Tropen Theater, and went often on tours to Germany, France and Belgium.


As a tango music performer he has worked with many renowned musicians and ensembles in Europe. He was asked to play with Orquesta Tipica Fernandez Fierro during their first European tour and was invited several times to perform as a special guest with tango legend Alfredo Marcucci’s Sexteto Veritango.

About Christian Eggen

Christian Eggen, born 1957 in Drøbak, Norway. Began his conducting career in 1981, when he had already established a successful career as a pianist. International breakthrough as a conductor during the World Music Days in 1990 and rapidly became one of the Nordic countries’ most prominent conductors, particularly favoured for his performances of contemporary music. He is the artistic director of the Oslo Sinfonietta and the Cikada ensemble. He has collaborated with leading contemporary music ensembles and with composers such as John Cage, Iannis Xenakis, James Dillon, Helmut Lachenmann, György Kurtág, Kaija Saariaho and Magnus Lindberg. He was awarded the Norwegian Music Critics Prize, the Spellemann prize, the Lindeman prize and the Oslo Bys Kunstnerpris. In 2007 he was appointed Commander of The Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav.

    Since his arrival in The Netherlands in 2009, double bassist James Oesi has become a well known face in the classical and contemporary music world. As one of the few concentrating on the bass as a solo instrument, he has performed solo programmes (including works by Bach, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff, among others) in prominent venues such as Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Concertgebouw Brugge, Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg, The Oosterpoort in Groningen, festivals such as Huddersfield Music Festival (UK), November Music, Oerol, Festival Classique and at festival Wonderfeel (where his concert was later named by Dutch National Public Radio 4 as one of the festival’s highlights). James has toured South Africa and France and played with South African Jazz Legend Abdullah Ibrahim at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
    James has appeared on numerous occasions on Dutch National Public Radio stations NPO Klassiek, Belgium’s Klara and NPO Radio 1 where he was also the subject of a radio documentary. He has also had numerous appearances on Dutch National Television programmes Podium Klassiek and Vrije Geluiden. Classic FM UK featured James’ video of Luciano Berio’s Psy.
    James is the founder and artistic leader of the Dutch Double Bass Festival – the only festival of its kind in the world.
