    Like many, the historic theater had been abandoned.

    It was a familiar sight in downtown during the '70s.

    In the new season, we learn new details about how the First People of the Kumeyaay Nation are extremely adaptive, resourceful and knowledgeable about astrology, astronomy, medicine, tool making, hunting, harvesting, trading, nutrition, arts and culture, and more. It was in 1769 when the First People of the Kumeyaay Nation came upon the Spanish, an encounter that dramatically altered the course of history. It’s all part of the two-year documentary series of Historic Places as we approach the 250th anniversary of this encounter.

    The two-year series is part of KPBS-TV local programming and it will be incorporated into the San Diego History Center’s school and public programs for students and museum visitors. It will also be incorporated into the Kumeyaay Community College, First People museums & schools, and the San Diego City Schools curriculum (select campuses). Historic Places and Historic Places in the Classroom, are a Sevilla Productions, LLC Project.
